Junior Road Safety Officers

Our JRSOs (Sophie, James, Billy, and Lexa) are committed to promoting road safety awareness to all our pupils, parents and staff. This year they will be working together to make Days Lane a safer place by planning road safety activities, presenting assemblies and organising road safety competitions alongside Mrs Tyler.

JRSO Meetings

Be Bright Be Seen Assembly

Our JRSO team promoted being safe when riding, scooting or walking to school during the winter months by presenting a 'Be Bright, Be Seen' assembly to the whole school. We look forward to 'Be Bright Be Seen' day, where everyone will wear bright clothing to further promote road safety.

Field Work

Our JRSOs were out in force this week, performing fieldwork and surveying parents about traffic outside of our school. In total they tallied 132 vehicles during the morning drop off and noted 77 hazardous incidents (see table below):

Thank you to all the parents who participated in the survey. There were a number of interesting points that were made, with 100% of the survey stating that they would like to see the speed limit outside of school reduced to 20mph or lower. The JRSOs will present the results of their survey to the rest of the school, as part of their Road Safety assembly next half term.
